Kathryn Arnold, an industry expert who has worked with Johnny Depp, Amber Heard, and James Wan, said this week that Momoa and film director James Wan were “committed to her” and “adamant” that she stay in the movie. According to the lawsuit, Heard claims she was almost dismissed from the sequel due to her contentious divorce from Depp. However, DC Films president Walter Hamada disputed this, claiming that Heard nearly lost her starring role as Mera owing to concerns about a lack of chemistry between them.

Last week, Heard claimed that Warner Bros. “didn’t want to include” her in the new Aquaman film because of her legal disputes with Depp, but she “fought” to remain onset. “I fought to keep my job, and the biggest movie opportunity I had to date [with] Justice League with the option to [star in] Aquaman. I had to fight really hard to stay in Justice League because that was the time of the divorce,” In the trial, she denied it.

In 2023, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom will premiere in theaters.
