According to reports, Tom Holland is not returning as Peter Parker/Spider-Man in Spider-man Freshman Year. In February 2019, Disney+ announced the animated series, which came alongside the word of Marvel Studios’ planned animation development with X-Men ’97, Marvel Zombies, and Season 2 of What If…?
The events of Spider-Man Freshman Year are scheduled to take place before Spider-Man’s debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in Captain America: Civil War. The series will continue to fill in more of Spider-Man’s comic book origin stories, which have been hinted at but largely absent from the MCU. Even though it’s a prequel to Spider-Man: Homecoming, Tom Holland will not be lending his voice to the project due to uncertainty about his continued involvement in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Additional information on Spider-man Freshman Year and other Marvel Studios news is expected at the studio’s Animation panel at San Diego Comic-Con later this month.
Tom Holland is an English actor and dancer. He is known for playing Spider-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) films Captain America: Civil War (2016), Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017), Avengers: Infinity War (2018), and Avengers: Endgame (2019). He also played the title character in Billy Elliot the Musical at the Victoria Palace Theatre in London from 2008 to 2010. Holland was born in Kingston upon Thames, England, to Nicola Elizabeth (Frisby), a photographer, and Dominic Anthony Holland (1953-2013), a comedian and author. His paternal grandparents were from County Wexford, Ireland.
He has three brothers – twins Sam and Harry and Patrick. He attended the BRIT School in Croydon. After being introduced to film productions happening in his local area, he started making short films with friends. One of these projects was a parody of the James Bond film Skyfall (2012) that he posted online, which caught the attention of actor/director Edgar Wright, who then cast him in the lead role of his film The World’s End (2013).
Holland made his stage debut in the title role of a play version of Roald Dahl’s “The Twits” at the Duchess Theatre in London’s West End. After appearing in several more stage productions, he was cast as Spider-Man/Peter Parker in Captain America: Civil War (2016), followed by Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017) and Avengers: Infinity War (2018).
