Zack Snyder’s ‘Justice League’ Release Campaign was Led By Bots, Fake Accounts

Date:

According to WarnerMedia commissioned reports, bots, and fraudulent accounts/users were responsible for the fan-led social movement to release Zack Snyder’s Justice League.

According to the reports, at least 13% of the discussions about the Snyder Cut were fraudulent, with that number three to five percent greater than experts claim are typical for popular subjects. Accounts with fake names and pictures were amplified by a disproportionately large amount of bogus accounts.

The report added, “One identified community was made up of real and fake authors that spread negative content about WarnerMedia for not restoring the ‘SnyderVerse.’” Leaders were also identified by the authors examined on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram. One leader was discovered on each platform. These leaders have the greatest interaction and a large number of followers, allowing them to shape public opinion.”

The news site spoke to Q5id, Graphika, and the Alethea Group about the issue, and they confirmed that there was “inauthentic activity” in the campaign and that the forsnydercut.com domain, which debuted in late 2017 and was said to be the site that launched the #ReleaseTheSnyderCut hashtag. The domain was once registered to an unnamed person who also led a now-closed ad agency that promoted its ability to deliver “cheap, instant Avatar traffic to your website.”

The majority of the 20+ people involved in the 2017 film and 2021 re-release also told Rolling Stone that Snyder may have been attempting to “manipulate” the campaign for his re-release. According to a source, Snyder spoke with a studio executive and threatened to “devastate” Geoff Johns and Jon Berg — two producers on the 2017 film — on social media since they were not actively seeking to have their names removed from the Snyder Cut. “He’s like Lex Luthor “wreaking havoc,” one person said of Snyder.

In 2021, the four-hour film was released on HBO Max.
