Amandla Stenberg will play the female lead in Lucasfilm’s Black Widow, with Jodie Turner-Smith on board. The showrunner is Leslye Headland, co-creator of Russian Doll.
The series’ plot is still under wraps, although it will take place in the final days of the High Republic when the Sith was thought to have been defeated and the Jedi were at their most powerful. The series is set a century before Star Wars: Episode I — The Phantom Menace, making it the live-action Star Wars production with the highest time frame.
Last year, actor Daniel Lee rose to prominence after his role in Netflix’s Squid Game, which has since shattered several streaming records and earned 14 Emmy nods. On Monday, the actor will have the opportunity to become a pioneer at the Primetime Emmy Awards in the Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series category.
Keep an eye out for further information on Disney+’s The Acolyte.
