‘Avatar 2’ Reportedly Cost Over $300 Million to Make

Date:

The Hefty Budget for ‘Avatar: The Way of Water‘ is Revealed, Costing hundreds of millions of dollars.

The world is waiting for the release of James Cameron’s upcoming film, Avatar: The Way of Water. Many have speculated how much money was put into producing this movie. Earlier this month, Hypebeast reported that for the film to make back its production costs, it would have to become the “fourth or fifth highest-grossing film in history.”

As stated in a recent Hollywood Reporter report, the budget for the Sequel falls between $350 million and $400 million, making it one of the most expensive films ever next to Marvel’s Avengers: Endgame and Age Of Ultron.

The first Avatar film is, as of now, the highest-grossing movie ever, with an unbelievable $2.9 billion. In second place is Avengers: Endgame with a still very impressive $2.79 billion, and in third place– another one of Cameron’s movies–is Titanic at $2.2 billion. In Total Film, Cameron stated, “We’re in a different world now than we were when I wrote this stuff, even.” He attributes this change to the pandemic as well as the recent rise of streaming services. Or, conversely, maybe we’ll remind people what going to the theatre is all about. This film definitely does that. The question is: how many people give a shit now?”
