Robert De Niro’s Netflix Series “Zero Day”: Everything You Need to Know

In his first TV lead, Robert De Niro is to star in an upcoming Netflix political thriller; The project is led by ‘Narcos‘ showrunner Eric Newman.

For the first time in his long and successful career, Oscar-winning actor Robert De Niro will take on a lead TV role for Netflix’s upcoming limited political series “Zero Day”.

The upcoming series will have Narcos showrunner Eric Newman as the head and president of NBC News, Noah Oppenheim, working together to pen the script. The political thriller is said to feature De Niro playing a former president. Newman, Oppenheim, and Michael Schmidt wrote the story for the script. Newman currently has a deal with the streaming giant, while this project will see Oppenheim, De Niro, and Jonathan Glickman of Panoramic Media executive produce.

It’s unclear if they will give Zero Day the go-ahead, but if it is, De Niro will have his first regular lead role in a TV series. He did receive an Emmy nomination in 2017 for playing Bernie Madoff in HBO’s movie, “The Wizard of Lies.”
