Idris Elba, Mo Abudu Form Partnership to Support African Talent With Education, Development Opportunities

Date:

Idris Elba and Mo Abudu have recently collaborated to provide African talent with the educational resources they need to succeed and develop opportunities.

This pioneering initiative is set up to create a platform for aspiring creatives, allowing them access to invaluable knowledge that will help them excel in their respective fields.

Idris Elba, iconic star of “Luther,” and Mo Abudu, media magnate extraordinaire, are aligning their production houses Green Door Pictures and EbonyLife Media to elevate African talent from the continent to the diaspora.

Through this new strategic alliance, we are opening up a world of possibilities by investing in capacity building and creating substantial global productions. A new joint venture between our two organizations will launch groundbreaking education and mentoring initiatives to cultivate both a lost generation and the next wave of creativity.

Working side-by-side, Elba and Abudu strive to cultivate a more cosmopolitan media environment that accurately reflects stories from Africa and its global community. African leaders are advocating for industry giants, public institutions, national governments, and the international community to assist in developing skilled talent worldwide and increasing capacity on the continent.

The two are committed to strengthening industry education to amplify African talent and provide them the opportunity to succeed. EbonyLife’s Creative Academy, located in Lagos, Nigeria, is the primary vehicle for achieving our goal of supporting graduates from the program.

Simultaneously, Elba and Abudu are constructing an original selection of African or diaspora productions for theatrical releases and TV programs to be presented to a worldwide audience. Through captivating tales rooted in African culture, the slate seeks to inspire viewers worldwide. We intend to market our co-productions to broadcasters, streamers, and theatrical venues.

Elba proclaimed, “I have always been passionate about using my platform to make a positive impact. By partnering with Mo, we aim to offer free, world-class industry education to the next generation of storytellers and bring their authentic voices to the forefront. This partnership is a step towards creating a more inclusive and diverse media landscape that represents the voices and experiences of Africa and its diaspora around the world.”

Abudu proclaimed: “We believe that Africa has the talent and the stories to captivate the world. Our mission is to offer the best in industry education, mentorship, and production opportunities so that our graduates can become valuable contributors to the global media landscape. We plan to hit the ground running and explore the very best that African and Black stories have to offer global audiences.”
