Sony Pictures’ “Sex and Vanity” principal role open casting call in New York City, NY.
Attention all aspiring actors and actresses – Sony Pictures is holding open auditions for the principal roles of Lucie Tang Kingsley and George Zhao in their upcoming feature film, Sex, and Vanity. Based on the NY Times bestselling novel by the author of Crazy Rich Asians, this film promises to be a standout production in the coming years.
In the search for Lucie Tang Kingsley, Sony Pictures is looking for a female actor who is 25 years old and speaks basic Mandarin/Cantonese. The character is intelligent and creative, with a unique background as the daughter of a blue-blood WASP father (who passed away when she was young) and an artistic Asian mother. This role is perfect for an actress who can portray emotional depth and complexity on the big screen.
The second principal role, George Zhao, is a Chinese male who speaks fluent Mandarin/Cantonese. This character is 26 years old and is described as handsome, worldly, passionate, and romantic. It is important to note that this role may require partial nudity, so actors must feel comfortable with that aspect of the production.

About Sony PIctures ‘Sex and Vanity’:
Sony Pictures and SK Global to adapt Kevin Kwan’s ‘Sex and Vanity’ for the screen
Sony Pictures and SK Global have acquired the rights to adapt Kevin Kwan’s latest novel, ‘Sex and Vanity’, into a feature film. Kwan, who is best known for his hit book ‘Crazy Rich Asians’ and its subsequent movie adaptation, will also executive produce the new film.
‘Sex and Vanity’ is a romantic comedy that takes place on the island of Capri, where a young woman named Lucie Churchill finds herself torn between two men: George Zao, a wealthy and charming businessman from Hong Kong, and Cecil Pike, a witty and rebellious Englishman. As she navigates her feelings for these two men and the expectations of her high-society family, Lucie discovers the secrets and scandals of her own past.
The film adaptation will be produced by SK Global’s John Penotti and Theresa Kang-Lowe, along with Sony’s Amy Pascal. Wayne Wang, who previously directed ‘The Joy Luck Club’ and ‘Maid in Manhattan’, is set to direct the film.
In a statement, Kwan expressed his excitement for the upcoming adaptation, saying, “I am thrilled that SK Global and Sony Pictures have taken on the challenge of bringing ‘Sex and Vanity’ to the big screen. I can’t wait to see how they will bring the characters and world of the book to life.”
‘Sex and Vanity’ is Kwan’s fourth novel and was released in 2020 to critical acclaim. The novel has been described as a modern retelling of E.M. Forster’s classic novel ‘A Room with a View’, with a contemporary Asian-American twist.
No release date has been announced for the film adaptation, but fans of Kwan’s work and romantic comedies alike are eagerly anticipating its arrival.
