About:
Shelly began her lifelong career in social services and child welfare working Child Protective Services in 1993. In 2002, Shelly founded The Social Empowerment Center, a mental health and social services outreach and treatment center in Lawrenceville. In 2014, Shelly and the Social Empowerment Center was recognized by the "Bulldog 100" as the #1 fastest growing businesses owned or operated by a University of Georgia alumni. Shelly also became a part-time professor at the UGA School of Social Work.
In 2017, Shelly Hutchinson felt the call to serve her community at Georgia's State House and received an early endorsement from President Barak Obama. Shelly Hutchinson was elected as the first democrat, first minority and first woman to represent Ga House District 107. Shelly is currently a member of the Health and Human Services, Juvenile Justice Budget and Fiscal Affairs Oversight and Energy, Utilities and Telecommunications Committees.
