The next chapter in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, “Thor 2” is now in pre-production and the casting director in Los Angeles is getting ready to audition talent for new co-starring and supporting roles. The bulk of filming will take place in London, England with some additional filming in Los Angeles. There will also be auditions in London for principal acting roles. Extras, photo-doubles, and stand-ins will be hired in London and various areas of the United Kingdom. Filming on “Thor 2” will begin in August, 2012.
Returning for this second “Thor” installment is People’s Choice Award and Teen Choice Award nominee Chris Hemsworth as Thor; Academy Award winner Natalie Portman as Jane Foster; BAFTA Award nominee Tom Hiddleston as Loki; Golden Globe winner Idris Elba as Heimdall; British actor Ray Stevenson as Volstagg; Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror Films nominee Jaimie Alexander as Sif; and Joshua Dallas as Fandral.
Primetime Emmy Award winning filmmaker Alan Taylor will direct “Thor 2” from a screenplay rewritten by Robert Rodat from original drafts by Don Payne, based on the Marvel Comics by Jack Kirby, Stan Lee, and Larry Lieber. Alan Taylor is highly respected for his outstanding directorial work on HBO’s “Game of Thrones”. His other credits include “Sex and the City,” “Lost,” “The Sopranos,” and “Mad Men”. Prior to the studio signing Alan Taylor, Patty Jenkins was set to direct “Thor” but left the project in December 2011, citing “creative differences”.
