Production will begin this week on the feature film Dallas Buyers Club, which stars Matthew McConaughey, Jennifer Garner, and Jared Leto. The film is set in the 1980’s, and follows the story of Ron Woodroof, a tough Texas electrician who was diagnosed with AIDS in 1986 and given six months to live. Frustrated with the lack of available medical options and unwilling to accept a death sentence, Woodroof found a lifeline using alternative drugs and created a lucrative smuggling business that made those drugs available to AIDS patients across the country.

Filming will take place in the New Orleans and Baton Rouge areas starting the week of November 11th.
The Dallas Buyers club will be directed by Jean-Marc Vallee a foreign director who is known for such projects as C.R.A.Z.Y and The Young Victoria. He is expected to direct a screenplay created by Melissa Wallack and Robbie Brenner is schedule to produce in association with Relativity Media.
The casting director is seeking locals to work as background talent on the film. More specifically, lots of MEN with BEARDS and MUSTACHES. HISPANIC MEN and JAPANESE MEN are strongly encouraged to submit. They are also seeking people who own We are looking for PERIOD VEHICLES, which have not been altered from late 1960’s to 1986!
