Nickelodeon Orders ‘School of Rock’ Show Straight to Series
The 2003 Paramount Pictures comedy starring Jack Black is making it’s way to Nickelodeon.
According to reports, Nickelodeon has announced on Monday that they will partner with Paramount TV and produce 13 episodes with the original director, Richard Linklater executive producing the TV series.
The series will center on Jack Black‘s character, Dewey Finn, a rocker who pretends to be a substitute music teacher at a prestigious prep school. Production for the new series is set to begin this fall and will air spring 2015.
“‘School of Rock‘ is one of those great movies that always felt quintessentially Nickelodeon in its tone and humor, and we jumped at the opportunity to partner with Paramount Television and bring it to life as a TV series,” said Russell Hicks, president of Content and Development at Nickelodeon. “Once again, kids will be able to laugh and rock!”
