About:
Dana Volkmar has called the stage her home for most of her life. Beginning at the early age of 3 she began taking classes in ballet. She fell in love with dance and continued training for years in several genres, including ballet, contemporary, modern, jazz, and lyrical hip hop. Upon completion of high school, she was offered a full dance scholarship from the University of Nevada at Las Vegas. Opting instead to stay close to her home in Dallas, Texas, she began working with local artists and dancers to enhance her technique and improve her ability . A devout thespian, as well, Dana has performed in over 25 musicals and plays on both a local and national level. Her repertoire includes working with the oldest, continuously running theater company in the United States, the Shreveport Little Theater, on top of, working for the 3rd largest theater company in the world, American Immersion Theater Company as both a lead actor and assistant director. During her time with American Immersion Theater Company, Dana performed in over 400 shows across 5 states. Although Dana has loved working in almost every facet of the stage (both onstage and backstage), her greatest passion has been found in teaching. Dana has taught numerous workshops and classes in various disciplines of performance art, including improvisation for stage and life, spoken word, Fosse jazz, musical theatre, Laban method,, acting techniques for beginners to intermediate , modern and contemporary to name a few. “To be a part of that moment when a young artist connects to their craft, and passion and understanding erupt, is truly the best part of creating.” -Dana Volkmar Dana, always intrigued by a challenge and a willingness to learn, has dabbled in film, as well. She appeared in a pilot and several episodes of the web series, “EDJ” - directed by Michael Ma. She has been in commercials for Winstar Casinio, Hersheys chocolate,a web campaign for Tik Tok, snd even made a television appearance on the Real Housewives of Dallas County. From 2021 to 2023 Dana was the media liaison and spokesperson for a national immersive art experience’s Dallas based venue. She aspires to obtain more on camera experience. An avid believer in the importance of contributing to her community, her background includes volunteer work with Art Literacy and Youth, Portland, Oregon, Providence House and SLT in Louisiana, North Texas Food Pantry and Stew Pot in Dallas, Texas, and St. Jude’s Research. She stands by her conviction that socially conscious art is vital in our world now more than ever…. “ art connects us in a crucial way. A wiork of art or performance piece speaks without barriers. The language is universal, the purpose independent of social status…. the reach is limitless
