Sony Pictures is planning a Zombieland Sequel
It will be five years since Zombieland first premiered. Released on October 2, 2009, the zombie action comedy earned $102 million at the box office. The movie did so well that producers were extremely interested in bringing Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg, Emma Stone and Abigail Breslin back for a sequel.
But in 2011 Eisenberg didn’t really feel the same way as producers. He was quoted saying that he questioned the sequel’s “relevance,” while Harrelson said that the doesn’t feel like he is a “sequels guy.” When life handed Zombieland producers lemons, they decided to make lemonade. Producers attempted a Zombieland: TV Series, which filmed in Atlanta, Georgia but, the TV series never made it past the pilot.
Now, Sony Pictures is focused on creating a Zombieland 2. According to Deadline, Sony Pictures has hired Dave Callaham, the writer of Doom and The Expendables to write the sequel. While, Zombieland director, Ruben Fleischer, will return and supervise the writing.
