Disney announces ‘Toy Story 4’ is currently in pre-production and in development for 2017.
Even though Toy Story 3 had a near perfect ending for a blockbuster franchise, Disney’s announced yesterday that Toy Story 4 is currently in development and a scheduled release in June 2017. According to Variety, the announcement was made during a meeting with Wall Street Analysts in what looks like a move to boost Disney’s stock value. Which is probably a smart decision, Toy Story 3 made $1 billion worldwide in theaters, in addition to the $800 million the first two movies earned at the box office, so there is a pretty good chance that Toy Story 4 will exceed box office expectations.
John Lasseter directed the first Toy Story and co-directed Toy Story 2 with Lee Unkrich before leaving the franchise to work on the new Cars series. John Lasseter is expected to return to the Toy Story franchise in Toy Story 4. Tim Allen, and Tom Hanks will most likely return to do the voiceovers in the upcoming sequel.
