Evangeline Lilly reveals why she almost left Marvel’s Ant-Man.
Following the loss of original director Edgar Wright, many fans were nervous about the future of the Marvel Studios’ Ant-Man, and it looks like it affected the cast members as well.
According the Hollywood Reporter, actress, Evangeline Lilly, who plays Hope Van Dyne in the movie, revealed that Wright’s departure almost led to her leaving the movie as well.
“Oh man, when they got rid off — not got rid of, but when Edgar and Marvel decided to part ways, I was nervous, and I kind of held off from signing my contract because I actually wanted to wait and see what would happen,” Lilly admitted during an interview on Canadian talk show Innerspace. So what kept her around? New director Peyton Reed. “I met Peyton, and we spoke, and I was convinced that I was going to do the project.”
Lilly went on to give Reed high praises. “He has such impeccable taste, he’s so collaborative, he’s so much fun,” she said. “He’s so deep into the comic book world, always has been, all his life, and really knows the genre. I have no doubt the film will be incredible. I think it’s going to be one of Marvel’s best.”
Evangeline Lilly received a Golden Globe nomination for her role in the ABC series Lost. She is also known for her roles in films such as Afterwards,The Hurt Locker, and Real Steel. She plays Tauriel in The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug and will appear in The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies, the final film in Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit trilogy.
Ant-Man, which stars Paul Rudd and Michael Douglas, is set to hit theaters on July 17, 2015. Filming is currently taking place in Pinewood Studios outside of Atlanta, Georgia.
