Cliff Curtis, from the cancelled TV series, “Gang Related” will lead the cast of the new Walking Dead Companion Series, Walking Dead: Cobalt.

According to reports, The Walking Dead companion series has found their version of Rick Grimes. Cliff Curtis was chosen as the starring role in the new pilot from Robert Kirkman and Dave Erickson.
Cliff Curtis is a New Zealand actor whose screen roles include Whale Rider, Once Were Warriors, and Blow. His television work includes NBC series Trauma, and Body of Proof, and starring in ABC’s Missing. EthnicallyMāori, his many character roles include having portrayed a range of ethnicities, including Latin American and Arab characters.
The Walking Dead Companion Series, is currently a spin-off from The Walking Dead will feature the same apocalypse as AMC’s flagship show but takes place at a different location.

Curtis will topline the drama and portray Sean Cabrera, a teacher who shares a son with his ex-wife, Andrea. The character is described as a good man trying to do right by everyone in his life. [via]
The female lead in the TV series, the role of Nancy Tomkins, is still being tested in Hollywood. The Nancy Tomkins character is a guidance counselor who works at the school with Sean.
Already cast in the series include Frank Dillane is best known for his role as Tom Riddle in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince and Alycia Debnam Carey was also featured in Into the Storm earlier this year.
