According to reports, Neill Blomkamp, the director of the upcoming feature film “Chappie” and “District 9” will direct the “Alien” reboot.

Neill Blomkamp originally planned an “Alien” sequel with Sigourney Weaver. However, it is unclear whether Weaver is still attached to the new “Alien” reboot.

The “Alien” reboot will take place years after the “Prometheus” sequel. The “Prometheus” franchise has earned over $400 million worldwide but, the feature film had mixed reviews, and Fox hopes to take the “Alien” franchise to the next level.
