‘Toy Story 4’ will not follow the last film’s story and will tell a brand new story.
Many people thought the Toy Story 3 was a perfect trilogy. But, last year it was leaked that a fourth Toy Story movie was in the works from Disney and Pixar. However, details surrounding the movie not been revealed and many people think it is a big mistake. Jim Morris, studio president revealed what we should expect in the Toy Story sequel:
The third movie ended in a beautiful way and completed a trilogy. I think this movie is not part of this trilogy. It is a separate story, which in turn I do not know if will be continued. Never begin a project with that in mind.
It is not a continuation of the end of the story of Toy Story 3. Temporarily it is, but it will be a love story. It will be a romantic comedy. It will not put much focus on the interaction between the characters and children. I think it will be a very good movie. (via /Film)
So the new Toy Story movie will focus less on kids growing up, and focus more on the toys themselves. This will be a major change from the previous Toy Story movies and it will be interesting to see if kids will enjoy a romantic comedy cartoon. But, at the end of the day you can’t blame Disney’s creative team for trying something new with the multi-million dollar franchise.
