Jon Stewart announces date of his final ‘Daily Show’

Jon Stewart broke the news earlier this year that he was set to retire from the Comedy Central series. Now, it appears that the ‘Daily Show’ departure is really coming true.

Jon Stewart told audiences during Monday’s installment of the Comedy Central series that his last episode will air August 6, 2015.

“I will be wearing a suit; I will more than likely be showered,” he told the crowd, who cried at the idea of his departure. He responded with: “I’m sorry — I’ll be wearing overalls, and I won’t shower.”

Jon Stewart is set to be replaced by Trevor Noah, whose premiere date has not yet been announced. Jon Stewart stated several months ago that he will step down from the TV series after more than 16 years behind the desk.

Jon Stewart recently told The Guardian that he was “not getting the same satisfaction” lately from doing the show and was not interested in covering another presidential election.
