‘Ridiculous Six’ producers tell Native American actors to leave if they are “overly sensitive”

Adam Sandler’s first Netflix movie is not going too well. Over the weekend a cell phone video emerged showing a producer telling Native American actors that it would be best for them to leave the set if they are “overly sensitive” about the jokes in the movie.

The cell phone video was from Goldie Tom and was posted to YouTube by Indian Country Today. The video shows producers telling extras, who have problems with the movie: “if you are overly sensitive about it…you should probably leave.”

He also says later that “it’s not meant to be disrespectful.”

“You guys are the good guys.” a woman working on the film is heard telling the Native American actors. “The people we are really making fun of, honestly, are the other gang members.”

Several Native American actors left the set of ‘Ridiculous Six’ after hearing several jokes in the script. The extras said the jokes were disrespectful of women, elders, and misrepresented Native American culture.

Rapper Vanilla Ice, who plays Mark Twain in the movie, defended the project telling TMZ: “I don’t think anybody really had any ill feeling or any intent or anything. This movie isn’t [Dances] With Wolves – it’s a comedy.”

‘Ridiculous Six’ is a spoof of the Western classic ‘The Magnificent Seven.’ It is the first in a four-movie deal between with Adam Sandler and Netflix announced in October. Will Forte, Steve Buscemi, Taylor Lautner, Terry Crews and Rob Schneider. Frank Coraci is directing the movie.
