‘The Simpsons’ Voice Actor Quits the Show

Date:

‘The Simpsons’ voice actor behind Mr. Burns, Ned Flandlers and Principle Skinner has quit the Fox animated series.

‘The Simpsons’ has lost one of its most recognizable voices. Harry Shearer, who did the voices of Mr. Burns, Ned Flanders and Principle Skinner, is leaving Fox’s animated series after working for 26 seasons. Apparently, the voice actor quit the show due to failed contract negotiations.

He tweeted the news on Wednesday night.

“This because I wanted what we’ve always had: the freedom to do other work,” he wrote.

Later on Wednesday, he tweeted a message to “Simpsons” fans, thanking them for their support.

According to Variety, the rest of ‘The Simpsons’ cast recently signed two-year extensions, extending ‘The Simpsons’ for at least another two years. Dan Castellaneta, Julie Kavner, Nancy Cartwright, Yeardley Smith, and Hank Azaria are all still set to return for the next two seasons. Production on season 27 has already begun without Shearer.
