NBC is holding an open casting call for the role of Dorothy in “The Wiz Live!”
Dorothy is heading to New York City.
NBC has announced details for its casting call for the role of Dorothy for its upcoming production of “The Wiz Live!” Casting directors are seeking a young African-American woman between 18 and 27 years old. She “must have an extraordinary voice that can tell a story, as well as be mature with a youthful energy.”
The casting call is set for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on June 6 at Telsey + Co. at 311 W. 43rd St. on the 10th floor in Midtown Manhattan. Candidates need to be prepared to sing “Home,” “Ease on Down the Road” and “Be a Lion” from the original Broadway production of “The Wiz.”
“The Wiz Live!” is adapted from “The Wonderful Wizard of Oz” by L. Frank Baum and will premiere December 3 on NBC. It is executive produced by Craig Zadan and Neil Meron (“The Sound of Music Live!,” “Peter Pan Live!”) and directed by Kenny Leon.
