Broadway’s ‘Spring Awakening’ is looking for new talent to audition for a role on the critically acclaimed Broadway production.
The Tony Award-winning musical Spring Awakening its getting its first Broadway revival, courtesy of Deaf West Theatre, according to the USA Today.
The new production of the coming-of-age musical, which features a rock-based score by Duncan Sheik, previously had an acclaimed run in Los Angeles. It again will be performed simultaneously in American Sign Language and spoken (and sung) English. Deaf West applied this formula in presenting another musical, Big River, on Broadway in 2003.
The original Broadway production of Awakening opened in 2006, starring a youngJonathan Groff — who is set to return in Hamilton, beginning previews next month — and Lea Michele (pictured above with Groff).
