‘Fantastic Four’ actors, Michael B. Jordan and Kate Mara have the most uncomfortable interview with Atlanta DJ.
During the press tour for Fox’s upcoming ‘Fantastic Four,’ stars Michael B. Jordan and Kate Mara were forced to sit through an extremely uncomfortable and probably one of the most awkward interviews since Cara Delevingne’s San Antonio interview.
In an interview with Atlanta’s Rock 100.5 Morning Show last Thursday, Radio interviewer Jason Bailey began by asking what he believed was the most “obvious” question, how Jordan and Mara could play siblings since Sue and Johnny Storm are two different races.
“From what I’ve seen, you’re brother and sister — am I missing something?” he asked, to which Jordan replied, “No.”
“But you’re white and you’re black. How does that happen?” Bailey continued to prod.
“They could be raised as brother and sister,” Jordan had to explain. “I mean, there’s a whole bunch of different family dynamics that could be without the ‘obvious’ adoption.”
The focus then shifted to Kate Mara, who was asked by the co-host Steven J. Rickman why she had cut her hair when he thought her “long hair was excellent.”
“You’re way, way hot,” he commented. “Why’d you cut the hair? Your hair was beautiful.”
Mara joked, “This is a great interview,” before saying that she had her hair cut for a movie she had just finished wrapping. “I’m an actress. I have to be a chameleon,” she said when pressed further.
Bailey would later issue a statement to Buzzfeed that the interview questions were not meant to be incendiary.
“Look, not a huge fan of these controlled 5-7 minute interview junkets they run in the first place but I was curious about the brother and sister thing. You have a white sister and black brother wouldn’t you want to know how that happened? I did. The other Fantastic Four franchises explain the relationship so I figured with this new hipster version they’d have some different backstory.
My partner’s (Southside Steve) conversation about Kate’s hair is something that came up while Michael B Jordan took a phone call so I think they were kind of just going back forth in a playful way. As for him complimenting her toes and why people are upset about that…sorry…no idea. Steve likes girl’s toes. People should be appreciative when they get complimented. Those that are upset on Twitter I guess don’t get enough of them. Who knows?”
