Suge Knight’s lawyer calls out ‘Straight Outta Compton‘ for being “Exaggerated and Silly”
Straight Outta Compton is laughing all the way to the bank after shattering several box office records. But, not everyone is happy about the Straight Outta Compton movie.
According to TheWrap, Attorney Thomas Mesereau, who represents Marion “Suge” Knight, says Universal’s N.W.A biopic makes Suge Knight look like a troublemaker and a gangster who will rather use his fists to fix a business dispute. He added: “I’m sure he wouldn’t like it because a lot of it is exaggerated and silly and ridiculous.”
But, Mesereau says Universal makes Suge Knight look like a criminal even though he helped dozens of people in his community.
“A lot of the media does not realize how many good things he did for people, particularly in his community,” the attorney explained. “He financed athletic facilities in schools, he gave money to the homeless, money to people in need. He tried to arrange truces on the streets so people weren’t killed.”
“He funded funerals for families who were devastated by violence. He used to give a dinner every year for single moms in Compton to recognize their courage and their achievement,” the attorney said. “He’s a good person, and this will come out in due time.”
Straight Outta Compton made $60.2 million at the box office and Suge Knight was played by R. Marcus Taylor.
According to the movie, Suge Knight’s character convinces Dr. Dre to leave N.W.A and launch Death Row Records together. To get Dre out of his contract, Knight and his crew physically assault Eazy-E, N.W.A’s leader.
Suge Knight is also shown beating up anyone that gets in his way.
Suge Knight is currently sitting in jail in downtown Los Angeles on $10 million bail while awaiting trail in a murder case. On January 29, prosecutors say Knight ran his truck into two men after an argument on the set of a promo shoot for Straight Outta Compton and then fled the scene.
