Hugh Jackman reveals he would “seriously consider” playing James Bond.
Hugh Jackman may be ready to replace Daniel Craig. Jackman, the actor who turned down the role several years ago when he was preparing for X-Men 2, revealed that he is interested in playing 007.
Hugh Jackman is known nowadays for playing Wolverine in the X-Men franchise films but, it looks as though he is ready to jump onto another franchise series. Jackman told Australian TV series The Program that producers of the James Bond films asked him years ago about playing the secret agent spy, but he was not interested back then.
“At the time, I was just about to do X-Men 2, and I was like, ‘Ah, I don’t think it’s the right time,’ ” said Jackman, who will appear in the final Wolverine film in 2017.
But Jackman, who recently turned 46, is still open to the idea of becoming the iconic spy.
“I’d seriously consider it,” he said of playing 007.
Speculation about who will become the next James Bond has been discussed a lot lately ever since Bond novelist Anthony Horowitz said Idris Elba is “too street” for the role. He later issued an apology for his remarks.
The next film in the James Bond franchise is Spectre, and it stars Daniel Craig. Spectre hits theaters on November 6.
