Get ready Atlanta because Marvel is headed to Pinewood Studios to film Thor 3, Thor: Ragnarok
According to reports, Thor: Ragnarok will film in the newly constructed Pinewood Studios in Atlanta, Georgia with filming expected to begin the summer of 2016.
Chris Hemsworth is expected to return to his legendary role as Marvel’s Godfather of Thunder. Thor: Dark World writers Christ Yost and Craig Kyle are returning to write the sequel’s script. However, Marvel has yet to announce a director.
This is not a surprise for Marvel fans and Georgia residents. Marvel has filmed several of their major feature films including Ant-Man, Captain America: Civil War, and the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy 2. Therefore, making Georgia the unofficial filming location for all future Marvel movies.

This is great news for the Governor of Georgia who has vowed to make Georgia the filmmaking capital in the world. It was recently announced that Georgia’s film industry has helped create over 100,000 jobs and with Marvel’s planning to film Thor: Ragnarok in Atlanta, Georgia expect that number to continue to grow.
Thor: The Dark World earned $644.8 million world wide making more money than the first Thor more. Deadline.com calculated the net profit of the film to be $139.4 million, when factoring together all expenses and revenues for the film.
Rotten Tomatoes reported a 66% approval rating with an average rating of 6.2/10 based on 240 reviews. The website’s consensus reads, “It may not be the finest film to come from the Marvel Universe, but Thor: The Dark World still offers plenty of the humor and high-stakes action that fans have come to expect.”
