Donnamaria Barnes

Donnamarie Barnes is the Director of History & Heritage at Sylvester Manor and her work includes researching the lives and identities of the Enslaved, Free People of Color and Indigenous People of Sylvester Manor and Shelter Island, interpreting their stories and serving as the liaison between partner organization and univerisities as well as conserving and interpreting the collections and archives of Sylvester Manor. She serves as a Trustee of the Sag Harbor History Museum, and as Co-Founder of the Plain Sight Project on the East End of Long Island and lives in the historic Ninevah SANS community of Sag Harbor. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in photography from the Cooper Union School of Art and worked for over thirty years in journalism as a photo editor.
