Rupert Grint is officially returning to one of the most recognizable roles of his career.
Nearly 15 years after audiences last saw him as Ron Weasley in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2, the actor will pick up his wand again for the Broadway production of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.
Grint will play the adult Ron Weasley for a 17-week limited engagement at New York City’s Lyric Theatre, beginning February 2 and continuing through May 30, 2027.
The casting creates a direct connection between the original Harry Potter films and the acclaimed stage continuation, which follows the characters years after the events of the original story.
For Grint, the return has an especially personal meaning: he first played Ron when he was 11, and now he will portray the character as an adult and father while experiencing that same stage of life himself.
