Job Description
An independent short film titled “Below the Line” is casting lead and supporting actors for production in Atlanta and surrounding areas. The story centers on Rose, a driven indie filmmaker struggling to balance her passion for filmmaking with the realities of building a sustainable career. As she pushes toward what she believes will be her breakthrough, her relationships and creative work begin to suffer. Through reflection and personal growth, she begins to reconsider what success means and how the journey of creating art can shape relationships, identity, and purpose.
Job Responsibilities
- Perform a lead or supporting role in an independent short film.
- Prepare scripted material and deliver believable character-driven performances.
- Collaborate with the director, cast, and production team.
- Take creative direction and incorporate feedback into performances.
- Portray the emotional and interpersonal dynamics of characters working within the film industry.
- Maintain professionalism throughout rehearsals and production.
Requirements
- Rose: Female, ages 25–35, portraying a driven and passionate independent filmmaker struggling with career ambition, relationships, and creative fulfillment.
- Sage: Ages 20–35, any ethnicity; nonbinary, gender-nonconforming, or LGBT talent. The character is a local actor and crew member and a friend of Rose.
- Kai: Male, ages 25–35, any ethnicity. The character is an actor and occasional production assistant who moved to Atlanta and is considering leaving the industry to pursue teaching and family life.
- Must be comfortable performing emotionally grounded, character-focused material.
