Sara Aguilar

As a writer I have always felt a bit out of place, and in the distance between me and others I learned how to observe, question, and create. My work is shaped by grief and time, two ideas that are always intertwined for me, whether through loss of people, versions of self, or the quiet grief of change. I am drawn to how history is never really new, just repeated in different forms, and how we are constantly reshaped and reborn into new versions of ourselves through what we experience. I also explore how the unseen shapes everything in our lives, whether emotional, spiritual, or internal, even when we cannot fully explain it. With a background that once leaned toward science, I still think about time, the mind, and the universe in a scientific and poetic way, using writing and film to bring those perspectives together.
