Awards season is in the air and Hollywood is getting ready for one of their biggest nights of the year. While many people predict The Big Short and Mr. Robot are on track to win a ton of awards this year, many people are focused on the red carpet.

Golden Globes are a huge deal. That’s probably why a guy passed out during last year’s Golden Globe awards. But, it’s what happens behind the scenes that are an even bigger deal. From high fashion designer dresses, to 500,000 dollar jewelry. NYPost reporter broke down how much it costs to get an actress like Amy Adams ready for the Golden Globes.

Then it comes down to the hair and makeup. Apparently, it costs over $6,000 for hair and another $5,000 for make up. In fact, hair stylists charge about $2,000/day.
He commands a reported $2,000 day rate. Multiply that times Abergel’s estimation of a few days of prep, and you’re looking at $6,000.
In addition, make-up artists charge $1,500/hour and that must include a consultation meeting. Did you know Amy Adams spent $5,000 for her make up last year?
The biggest expense is jewelry as celebrities rent out fashion jewlery for the Golden Globes. But, for major actresses wearing $300k earings and bracelets, professional security is hired just to protect the diamonds.

Despite all of this money spent on clothing, nails, hair, and wardrobe, expect Ricky Gervais not to hold back tonight. “It’s a challenge.
