Tori Clay
About:
A bit of info on me:
I am Tori Clay but until a bit over 4 years ago I was Vic Clay, a moderately successful, SAGAFTRA, actor with a long resume of about 60 films and 25 plays plus directing, producing, shooting, writing, coaching on set, coaching privately, combat, stunts, stunt driving, precision driving, musician, singer/dancer, standup, comedy improv and more. "He", worked with A list stars and I don't mean just background. Close enough to be pranked and to prank them back. He came close to making it big more than once. Had a hit commercial on ESPN and a funny VO on a cable biz channel. Played every type of character and every size role including toplined features. Did pretty much anything one can do above or below the line for the big or small screen, stage, audience, or radio.
A bit over 4 years ago I came out as a transgender woman and a SAGAFTRA actress. My agent immediately dumped me. I went from the resume above to having no resume and all I got in the interim was 2 plays. The Boston Globe did recognize me for the first one and they put our tiny, ensemble cast show into their Top Ten Best
of Boston for 2016, ahead of huge shows with huge stars. I made the audience shatter the 4th wall in that show. I was solo, spot, doing a mono and breaking down so bad that they forgot they were watching an actor in character so they shouted out that they loved me just to cheer me up!! Not many actors can claim that. Otherwise, my career basically died.
I was the acting coach, assistant director and sang and danced in the chorus of, "Surreal Soiree". That is our multi media, rock and rap, opera with animation and narrative film and dance and live kick ass music that were playing around here until a health tragedy befell the man that conceived it and we won't be doing it ever again.
Then early this year I got one of the most perfect gigs that could be imagined for me. I did not even have to audition. It was a play written by the Academy Award winner that wrote Motorcycle Diaries and had not been up in this area, (Boston), before. I had the smallest role. I also had the largest role. The smaller one was a transvestite in a women's prison in Columbia. "He" was just a shell of a human after years of torture and rape in a men's prison. The large role was thDirectora, the head warden of the prison. I had 2 different Hspanic voices and characterization and was ready to slay but on showing up for tech night we were told the theatre was closed and there would be no show. The covid closed everything around here.
Recently, I resigned from SAGAFTRA too. There was no point to it anymore for me. I also told all the casting people that I would now audition and perform as female, male, or anywhere else along the gender spectrum. It was not that long ago when that would have been really hurtful for me to even think about.
More about me would be that I am the first ever transgender female art model to be signed to an agency contract. I was booked to art classes to pose nude. I am also a graphic artist, published author, and the director of the Screaming Ostrich Filmmaker's Festival, seen at www.screamingostrich.com. We are for all forms of video content up to 15 mins long in any format, just no porn, no hate and be over 18 unless the folks sign. We use filmfreeway for submissions. We are entering our second year. We inaugurated it with 4 Boston venues over 3 days and nights last year but this year we had 4 and have already had to cancel 3. One was our first ever all LGBT show. That killed me.
Another thing the virus has cost me is music. I just started last year on a dare. My friend's band was taking a set break and they dared me to play one of my own songs. I had not played for anyone since I was a kid, a male, and had perfect hearing. All gone now. I was electrified by the great response seeing a crowd grooving to my own music and so that one song became 5 that day and they were thanking me and hugging me and it was nuts. So I kept doing it. I started playing all over as a singer/songwriter/guitarist, just doing my own original rock and yet getting them to sing along to what they never heard before. More often than not, an audience member comes to me and compares me to Lou Reed, or Iggy, or Elvis Costello. I wear hearing aids so like I tell my crowds, I have no idea what I sound like. I just figure as long as they are not throwing shoes, I am no worse than the last time! I even had a producer fall in love with my music and he was taking me into the studio to record. I miss playing now. Anothercasualty of the virus.
More personally, I am a caregiver, estate manager, play tennis daily, ride motorscooters, drive a hot rod, and I am 5'6" and 120, long blonde hair, I am single and live in Boston. My best email is
