Lex McCallister, former The Bachelor contestant, has committed suicide.
A former contestant on one of the most popular seasons of The Bachelor has died and authorities are ruling it a suicide, according to TMZ.
Lex McCallister appeared on season 14 of The Bachelor with Jake Pavelka. She was later eliminated after the very first week of the show. Lex was a controversial contestant as she spoke out about Jake’s breakup with Vienna Girardi (the season’s winner), saying Girardi was not at fault.
According to TMZ, police are saying they received a 911 call Saturday at around 2 PM. The caller said Lex had texted her earlier that day saying she wanted to “end her life” and when the caller went on her it appeared Lex had overdosed on prescription pills.
She was taken to a hospital in stable condition but, according to her family, her body started to shut down. The family would later withdraw life support.
Apparently, The Bachelor contestant struggled with bipolar disorder and depression.
It’s important to point out that this is not the first time a Bachelor contestant committed suicide. In 2013 Gia Allemand, who was also a contest on the show alongside Lex, died by hanging herself.
From People:
“Anderson stated that he frantically unwrapped the cord” from around her neck, she was “not responsive” and he stated that he “began yelling for help.” A neighbor, Julieann Snow, later told police that she heard a male voice “frantically calling for help” at about 7:50 p.m. and, when she went next door, she saw Anderson “holding Ms. Allemand on the floor near the door.”
