About:
Avery Gay is from Scottsdale, AZ. She began performing and dancing at the age of 4 and was quickly hooked on the exhilarating feeling she got from being on stage. She has primarily trained in classical ballet and loves to partner it with other genres. As rare as it is, Avery has accelerated in both the concert and commercial worlds. As the youngest dancer to showcase classical ballet on pointe for a prime time TV show, she was just 10 years old when she made her debut on season 1 of NBC’s Little Big Shots. Followed by performances on, Fox’s So You Think You Can Dance Next Generation Top 20, NBC’s World of Dance The Qualifiers, The Duals and The Cut. Most recently, Avery was invited to be on the top 10 of Fox’s So You Think You Can Dance Season 18.
In addition to her commercial work, she has been fortunate to perform in more than 12 ballet galas worldwide. Allowing her to travel around the globe from Australia to Portugal. Notably she was honored to perform in the Stars of Today, Stars of Tomorrow Gala at the David H. Koch theater in New York after winning the gold medal for her Classical Pas De Deux at the Youth America Grand Prix Finals. In 2017, she was awarded The Dance Awards Junior Female Best Dancer. This was Avery’s second Best Dancer Title. These accomplishments have led Avery to not only be featured in several magazines including Dance Spirit Magazine as “You Should Know”. In 2021, The Studio International in Canberra, Australia named a studio room after Avery to commemorate the impact that she has had on their students.
Today, Avery is focused on creating choreography, mentoring, and teaching the next generation of dancers. She recently graduated from the University of Arizona with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance, where she attended on both merit and academic scholarships.
