Amber Hsu

Hi, my name is Amber Hsu, and I am 14 years old. I’m from New York and Taiwan. I play the piano and violin, sing, and used to be a competitive swimmer—until I decided there were more interesting ways to spend my time. My favorite subjects are English, orchestra, and science. I enjoy reading horror and true crime, mostly because they reveal what people try very hard to hide. I also like analyzing stories and noticing hidden details. Orchestra is one of the few places where silence isn’t expected, yet words aren’t required. It’s a more efficient way to connect with people, as silence is undervalued. Science, however, is my favorite—it answers questions most people are too afraid or too bored to ask. The experiments are especially enjoyable, particularly dissections, where everything is finally honest about what it is.
