The RoleÂ
The ABC is looking for a Digital Editor to lead and elevate our digital journalism in the Northern Territory. This role plays a central part in transforming the Darwin newsroom into a digital-first operation, delivering breaking, original and compelling content to audiences across digital platforms.
Based in the Darwin newsroom, you’ll work closely with our NT News Editor and an experienced editorial team committed to serving diverse local audiences.
The JobÂ
- Commission and create engaging, mobile-first digital journalism that is timely, accurate and impactful.
- Identify and drive digital coverage opportunities, including breaking news, with a strong NT perspective.
- Lead a team of digital producers, providing mentoring, training, performance guidance and editorial direction.
- Oversee digital analytics to inform coverage decisions and support continuous improvement.
- Implement ABC News’ Digital Strategy within the Darwin newsroom.
- Manage digital team rostering, workflows and collaboration across local and network teams.
- Play a key role in digital transformation and change initiatives, including technology adoption.
- Model ABC values and ensure compliance with safety, policy and editorial standards.

About YouÂ
You’re a digital news leader with a passion for creating audience-focused journalism and developing high-performing teams.
You’ll have: Â
- Specialist experience in digital news production, including mobile-first storytelling, social video, graphics and visual journalism.
- Proven success managing, guiding and inspiring editorial staff in fast-paced environments.
- Strong knowledge of multiplatform news production and digital content distribution.
