Created by Alice Ju, a writer known for her work on the award-winning series Beef, Superfakes blends crime, family drama, and cultural identity in a story centered around the underground world of luxury counterfeiting.

What “Superfakes” Is About

In Superfakes,” Lucy Liu plays a small-time Chinatown luxury counterfeit dealer who enters a dangerous black-market network in order to fund a suburban lifestyle for her family.

As her character becomes more deeply involved in the world of illegal luxury goods, the stakes grow higher and the risks threaten both her family and the future she hopes to build.

Ken Leung, known for his role in Industry, stars as her husband, adding emotional depth and family dynamics to the high-stakes storyline.

New Cast Members Join the Series

Three rising actors have officially joined the series, bringing fresh talent to the project.

Bohan Phoenix is a Chinese American rapper who will make his acting debut in Superfakes.” His music has appeared across major entertainment platforms including Netflix, Disney, Comedy Central, and the NBA 2K video game franchise. In 2024, he released the album Make You Proud, marking another milestone in his career before transitioning into television acting.

Michelle Jones Lee is a Los Angeles-based actor with an international background. Raised in China and educated in London, she is currently part of the USC MFA acting class of 2025. Beyond acting, Lee also performs as a bass player in a rock band.

Keith Leung, originally from Hong Kong, graduated from NYU Tisch School of the Arts. His film I, Chinese earned the jury prize at the DGA Student Film Awards, highlighting his work both in front of and behind the camera.

Superfakes” brings together several major industry names behind the scenes.

The series is created by Alice Ju, whose writing and producing credits include Beef and Poker Face. Ju’s work is known for blending sharp storytelling with unique character perspectives.

Who Is Casting “Superfakes”?

Casting for Superfakes is led by Kate Antognini, a respected casting director known for her unique approach to discovering talent.

Antognini often blends traditional casting methods with real-world scouting to find performers who bring authenticity to their roles. Many of her projects pair professional actors with first-time performers discovered through street casting and extensive research.

Her previous work includes films and television projects such as Port Authority, which premiered in the Un Certain Regard section at the Cannes Film Festival, as well as HBO’s How To with John Wilson and Goldie, which premiered at the Berlin International Film Festival.

Job Description
A new television series is seeking a nonbinary Cantonese-speaking actor for a recurring role in a Chinatown-set drama. The story follows a small-time luxury counterfeit dealer who becomes involved in a dangerous black-market underworld while trying to secure a stable life for her family. Casting directors are looking for a native Cantonese speaker to portray Treacle, a stylish and mysterious young international art school student with a bold personality and a lavish lifestyle that contrasts with complex family expectations.

Job Responsibilities
