Paeman Arianfar

Paeman Arianfar, an actor in Afghanistan's film industry, was born in 1986 in Kabul. He began his acting career in 2009 in Kabul, starring as one of the lead roles in the drama series Salam, produced by Moby Group (a division of Lemar and Tolo TV). After playing the main role, he was offered a proposal by Moby Group to become a director. He began his studies in film directing and lighting at Kaboora Production a part of Moby Group, as well as at Tora Bora Film Company, a program sponsored by the British Embassy in Kabul. Meanwhile, he continued his work on the second season of Salam. He also starred as the main character in three other TV dramas: The Ministry, Innocent Heart, and The Defenders. He has directed The Secret of Our House, Innocent Heart, and Sheren, all drama series produced by Lemar and Tolo TV. He has also produced and directed many other documentaries and short films, which have been selected for various film festivals. Since 2017, he has been living in France, where he continues to work on different film projects and commercial advertising assignments. He worked on Le Prince oublié, directed by Michel Hazanavicius, as well as on Ils sont vivants, directed by Jérémie Elkaim. He was a member of the international jury at the SFTF International Film Festival Showcasein 2020. His commercial advertising work includes an advertisement for Santé Publique France titled En parler, c’est déjà se soigner. In 2021, he was a member of the international jury at the Sedicicorto International Film Festival in Forli, Italy. In January 2022, he began acting in a Hollywood film, The Covenant, directed by Guy Ritchie, which was released in the USA and on Amazon Prime Video in 2023. In October 2022, he secured a supporting role in an upcoming film by Afghan director Roya Sadat, titled Sima’s Song. Lastly, in 2024, he landed a role in a French series called Kaboul, slated for release in 2025, directed by Kasia Adamik and Olga Chajdas. His most recent role in 2024 was in a project by Caramel Films titled Kaboul, Montréal, directed by Bachir Bensaddek.
