‘All I needed was vodka’: Emilia Clarke reveals she drank alcohol to shoot nude scenes on The Game of Thrones.
Emilia Clarke is probably one of the most popular characters on the Game of Thrones. It has catapulted her acting career and she has appeared in several feature films, TV shows and productions after working on the popular HBO series. However, one of the downsides to working on a premium cable show is that you may or may not be required to show off a little skin and bare all in a few scenes. So how does Emilia Clarke handle getting naked in front of the camera? According to Clarke, “all I needed was vodka”.
According to an interview with The Sun, the beautiful actress revealed she was nervous about filming the nude scene but she quickly relied on vodka to do the scene. ‘It was just a wonderful, strong moment I wanted to own, a real empowering, girl-power wow scene.’
In the scene, Emilia Clarke, who plays the Mother of Dragons Daenerys Targaryen, was seen emerging from a blazing wooden house, naked and empowered. The scene caused shockwaves across the world.
After the scene aired, the proud star appeared overjoyed that she filmed such a powerful shot, telling Entertainment Weekly: ‘This is all me, all proud, all strong. That ain’t no body double!’
Clarke is not the first actress to use alcohol to film a scene. Recently, Jennifer Lawrence revealed that she drank alcohol to film a sex scene with Chris Pratt in the Atlanta filmed movie, Passengers.
Lawrence said she just got “really really drunk,” but admits in the end that the choice probably made it even worse. “It led to more anxiety when I got home because I was like, ‘What have I done? I don’t know.’” she revealed. “He was married, and it was going to be my first time kissing a married man and guilt is the worst feeling in your stomach.”
“I knew it was my job, but I couldn’t tell my stomach that,” she went on. “So I called my mom and I was like, ‘Will you just tell me it’s okay?’ I was just very vulnerable. That was the most vulnerable I’ve ever been,” she admitted.
