Are Atlanta’s Film Tax Credits Helping Hillary Clinton?

Date:

Early polls show that Atlanta is boosting Hillary Clinton‘s chances at becoming President.

It is hard to deny the impact of Georgia’s film tax credits has had on the film industry. According to reports, after North Carolina and Louisiana capped their filming incentives, film crew workers moved en masse to Atlanta in hopes of finding a job. In fact, in the last two years, nearly a million people have moved to Atlanta making it the third fastest growing city in the United States. Therefore, it is only reasonable to believe that these large number of film industry professionals are now living in the ATL, which is causing the massive shift in politics transforming what was once a deeply conservative state.

But it begs the question – Are Atlanta’s film tax credits helping Hillary Clinton become president?

Polls are clearly showing Hillary Clinton has a formidable lead over Donald Trump. However, Clinton maybe winning in one one of the most unlikeliest places, the deeply conservative state of Georgia.

According to the AJC and as writer Ernie Suggs points out, Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed wants the Democratic presidential nominee to “pump more green into the red state and turn it blue.”

From the AJC:

Reed, who spoke on the final night of last month’s Democratic National Convention, said Monday Clinton needs to invest up to $15 million in Georgia in the coming months leading up to the tight election.

“I have said all along that Georgia is winnable,” Reed said. “If I were in Secretary Clinton’s shoes and I had an opportunity to win a state and I had a billion dollars, then $8-$15 million is a logical investment.”

This news comes after a study showed that Hillary Clinton has 7 percentage point lead ahead of Donald Trump in Georgia, which is huge for a state that largely conservative.

But, Hillary Clinton is in hot water after two American parents are suing Clinton for wrongful death and defamation following the 2012 terrorist attacks on U.S. diplomatic facilities in Benghazi, Libya, according to reports.

In the lawsuit, Patricia Smith and Charles Woods, the parents of Sean Smith and Tyrone Woods, claim that Clinton’s use of a private e-mail server contributed to Benghazi terrorist attacks. In addition, they also accuse her of defaming them in public.

From NBC News:

Smith was an information management officer and Woods was a security officer, both stationed in Benghazi.

“The Benghazi attack was directly and proximately caused, at a minimum by defendant Clinton’s ‘extreme carelessness’ in handling confidential and classified information,” such as the location of State Department employees in Libya, the lawsuit said.

While no such connection has ever been established, their lawsuit called it “highly probable” that Clinton sent and received information about the activities of U.S. Ambassador Christopher Stevens.

This news comes after James Comey announced the findings of the FBI investigation of her private e-mail server last month and said that it is “possible that hostile actors gained access” to it. However, the FBI did not find any direct evidence that her private e-mail server was actually hacked.

According to NBC News, the two parents said when Secretary Clinton met with them after their children were killed, she said that a controversial YouTube video was the motivation for the attacks. But Hillary Clinton said in later interviews she denied ever saying that and implied that the parents’ recollection of events was incorrect.

It’s important to point out that Smith told the world during the Republican National Convention that she blames “Hillary Clinton personally for the death of my son.”

Hillary Clinton may have a strong lead in Georgia at the moment. But, considering her past e-mail scandal and the Benghazi report, it is difficult to say whether or not Georgia voters are interested and committed to Hillary Clinton. Who are you going to vote for?
