USA Network’s Mr. Robot renewed for a third season.
Everyone’s favorite hacker is getting another season.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Mr. Robot was renewed for third season and the New York City filmed series will continue on their exploration of madness, crime, and hacking. The show’s creator recently spoke with THR about getting renewed saying “I’ve been very open from the get-go, just even in selling the pilot, that I don’t see it going more than four, maybe five, max five [seasons].” Esmail added, “They know that we should end this in the right way and not just drag it out for the sake of everything else. I think they’re very respectful and supportive.”
Despite getting renewed, Mr. Robot’s ratings have dropped 20%. NBC argues that many people watching the show on different platforms instead of every Wednesday night. “We couldn’t be more proud of Mr. Robot, a series that has pushed boundaries, captured the cultural zeitgeist, and been honored as one of the best dramas on television,” NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment Networks president Chris McCumber said. “Midway through its second season, Mr. Robot continues to break new ground and open up new opportunities for the network. We can’t wait to see where Sam Esmail and the entire brilliant Robot team take us next.”
