Kim Kardashian Opens Up About Her Latest Bar Exam Setback

Kim Kardashian is once again inviting fans behind the scenes of her ongoing legal journey—this time sharing the emotional moment she learned she didn’t pass the bar exam.

On Sunday, November 16, the 45-year-old posted a video montage on Instagram documenting the final two weeks of her studies, including candid clips of her crying, reviewing practice questions, and pushing through physical and mental exhaustion.

“I’ve shared so much of this journey with you,” she wrote in the caption. “This summer I documented the ups, the downs and everything in between.”

“It Was Disappointing, But It Wasn’t the End”

Kim revealed that she officially received the results on November 7 and did not pass.

“It was disappointing,” she wrote, “but it wasn’t the end. This dream means too much to me to walk away from, so I’m going to keep studying, keep learning, and keep showing up for myself until I get there.”

The star is pursuing her law degree through California’s apprenticeship route, an alternative path to the traditional law school experience. The program is known for being notoriously rigorous, with a low pass rate.

Inside Kim’s Intense Study Routine

The video shows Kardashian breaking down in tears as she prepares for the exam—one she studied for over four months.

“OK, the bar is two weeks away. I’m tripping a little bit,” she admits. “I’ve canceled all work, don’t take any calls, and don’t really do anything except being a mom and studying.”

Standing in front of a giant whiteboard filled with notes, she explains that she tried a different learning approach this time and felt she made progress.

“You never feel ready,” she says. “You just have to jump when you feel close. I know I have one shot, and I’ll shoot my shot. I’ll make it.”

Physical Setbacks Didn’t Stop Her

Kim didn’t just struggle with the academics—she also dealt with unexpected physical challenges.

A week before the exam, she appears wearing a back brace after injuring her back while studying. She even underwent an MRI just three days before the test, revealing several disc issues.

Still, she kept going.

“I just feel like my brain is going to explode and I still have so much more to go,” she says in the video. “A part of me just wants to stop, but I’m so tired.”

Her days involved:

  • Four hours of multiple-choice practice
  • Essay writing drills
  • Meetings with her essay professor
  • Long study sessions tracked with detailed checklists

Addressing the Critics

Throughout the montage, Kim also responds to critics who downplay her path to becoming a lawyer.

“You know everyone thinks, ‘Oh, it’s just some online program,’” she says. “Try it. Try it. They aren’t on my journey and I don’t need them to be.”

This isn’t Kim’s first time facing public skepticism, but she has consistently said her passion for criminal justice reform is what keeps her going.

Balancing Career, Family, and a Law Journey

Kim shared that she received her bar results on the same day her new Hulu series All’s Fair premiered.

“Well…I’m not a lawyer yet,” she joked on Instagram Stories. “I just play a very well-dressed one on TV.”

Despite juggling filming, motherhood, business commitments, and studying, she has continued to stay committed to her long-term goal.

A Setback—Not a Stopping Point

The video ends with a simple but empowering message:

“On November 7, 2025, Kim received her bar exam results. She did not pass. Though her attempt was unsuccessful she plans to take it again… And PASS.”

Kim’s perseverance has already inspired millions, and she’s made it clear this setback won’t be her final chapter.
