Pinewood Atlanta studios is on track to become the second largest movie studio in the United States.
Pinewood Atlanta Studios is nearing completion of its third phase of construction, which will make it the largest studio complex in the United States, according to Eoin Egan the senior vice president of Pinewood Studios.
Pinewood Atlanta Studios will soon have 18 different stages and construction should be complete by January 1, 2017.
Pinewood will then have a total of 361,000 square feet of sound stages, 175,000 square feet of office space, 185,000 square feet of workshop space and 267,500 square feet of vendor warehouses, bringing its total to 989,100 square feet.
This is great news for Marvel as the Disney owned corporation filmed several major motion pictures including Ant-Man, Captain America: Civil War, Guardians of the Galaxy 2 and Spider-Man: Homecoming. Mitch Bell, vice president of physical production for Marvel, said the studio plans on filming four more movies in Georgia including Black Panther, Avengers: Infinity Wars as well as several other feature films.
So where is the world’s largest film studio? The largest film studio complex in the world is Ramoji Film City, Hyderabad, India, which opened in 1996 and measures 1,666 acres. Comprising of 47 sound stages, it has permanent sets ranging from railway stations to temples.
