Warner Bros. to reboot the upcoming Willy Wonka movie.
According to Deadline, Warner Bros. has acquired the rights from Roald Dahl’s estate to the Willy Wonka intellectual property, with the plan to make a new movie based on the character produced by David Heyman.
The movie will be directed by The Secret Life of Pets writer Simon Rich and the goal is to create a franchise with the new movie.
Previously, the late Gene Wilder played Willy Wonka in the 1971 Paramount movie followed by Johnny Depp in the 2005 Warner Bros. reboot.
It’s important to note that Heyman has a long history of producing Hollywood classics including the Harry Potter movie and the upcoming Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them feature film.
