Trump is Reportedly Upset By Melissa McCarthy’s Impression of Sean Spicer on ‘SNL’

Date:

Donald Trump has been pretty open about his dislike for Alec Baldwin’s Saturday Night Live impressions of the president. So it’s no surprise that he is also upset with the way Saturday Night Live mocked White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer.

However, the reported reason why Trump is so upset is not because McCarthy mocked the White House Press Secretary. Instead, Trump is deeply upset because the show chose to have a woman portray Spicer.

According to a report by Politico, Trump is upset because a woman played Sean Spicer, which he believes makes his staff “look weak.”

More than being lampooned as a press secretary who makes up facts, it was Spicer’s portrayal by a woman that was most problematic in the president’s eyes, according to sources close to him. And the unflattering send-up by a female comedian was not considered helpful for Spicer’s longevity in the grueling, high-profile job in which he has struggled to strike the right balance between representing an administration that considers the media the “opposition party,” and developing a functional relationship with the press.

“Trump doesn’t like his people to look weak,” added a top Trump donor.

Politico argues that because Trump has not commented on the latest episode of SNL, it is a sign that he is extremely bothered by the situation. If true, it shows how much of an influence the NBC sketch TV series has.

Meanwhile, fans are reportedly pushing for Rosie O’Donnell to play Trump next.
