Growing up in north Jersey, I had the good fortune to enjoy Kids Night on Broadway since I was in middle school. My mom and I would annually go to a show and it was a special bonding time for the two of us. From Phantom of the Opera to Wicked, we loved that time together. We actually saw Wicked twice together and when I lived in Manhattan for a summer I took myself a third time. Few soundtracks have the same place in my heart as Wicked.
And now I'm sharing that same love with my daughter. At 7, she's seen children's versions of theater shows, but Wicked: Part 1 is her first foray into one of my favorites. Now we can sing "Defying Gravity" together. I've introduced her to the original Broadway soundtrack, and she asked to be the Glinda to my Elphaba in singing "For Good". And she always will be.
