My Thai name is Thanaporn. Yes, I know. It's the kind of name that turns heads, raises eyebrows, and occasionally gets flagged in emails. But let's keep it simple-just call me Skye. I was born in Thailand but spent most of my life going back and forth between there and Australia. My first "job" was at eight years old, plucking my grandma's grey hairs for 10 cents a strand. I did the math and thought, early retirement, here I come. Unfortunately but also fortunately, Grandma wasn't aging fast enough, and my millionaire dreams crumbled due to unforeseen market conditions (aka good genetics). I even thought about expanding to other grandmas in the neighbourhood, but turns out they all had great genes too. Tough market. In my short-lived career as a follicle removal specialist, I realized I had a love for precision and problem-solving. So, I pivoted to study health sciences and medicine. I'm still figuring out what I'll specialize in (like most of us are), but surgery's definitely tempting. There's something about the focus, the precision, the steady hands, it weirdly reminds me of my childhood hair-plucking side hustle. It feels like the logical next step after my childhood hair-plucking empire crashed and burned. If nothing else, it'd be a satisfying full-circle moment?... and hey, who doesn't want a second shot at an old dream? In 2023, I skipped my Biomedical Science graduation to spend weeks on a major feature film set. It was incredible seeing how every single role worked together to create something captivating. It was fast-paced, unpredictable, and exhausting but I loved every second of it. Sorry to my graduation gown but not really. In my free time, you'll usually find me beaching, hiking, scuba diving, fishing, or doing something active. I love living an active, healthy, and balanced life.
