Several months ago, while Fast and the Furious eight was filming in Atlanta, Georgia reports surfaced that Dwayne The Rock Johnson and Vin Diesel were no longer getting along. Apparently, there’s been plenty of heat between the franchise stars Vin Diesel and Dwayne Johnson. Now they are reportedly not even willing to market and promote the film while being in the same building together.
It all started last March when Dwayne Johnson posted a video on his Instagram. In the video, The Rock accused some of his male costars of being unprofessional.
“When you watch this movie next April and it seems like I’m not acting in some of these scenes and my blood is legit boiling – you’re right,” Johnson wrote.
But it didn’t stop there. A few weeks later, Johnson uploaded another video to his Instagram page. In the video, Johnson gave praise to several of the cast members and crew who worked on the movie. But one actor was not mentioned in the Instagram post. That actor was Vin Diesel.
While this may have shocked many fans of the Fast and Furious franchise, Diesel, who has an extensive social media following with over hundred million likes on Facebook, made a Facebook video featuring costar Michelle Rodriguez addressing the issue.
You would assume that the drama would’ve stopped there. The two biggest actors in one of the greatest movies of 2017 will let that show go. However, according to the Hollywood Reporter, the two stars being separate during the press tour for the fate of the furious. Studio sources were quick to tell the Hollywood Reporter that the stars animosity towards each other won’t cause any problems or affect the movie’s marketing campaign in any way. How are they doing this? By keeping them separate.
“What happened is over, and no one expects there to be any lingering effects. When it comes time to promote the movie, this will have no bearing.”
Remains to be seen whether the stars drama will affect the film’s box office numbers. But who knows? Maybe this bitter feud between the two male costars is just a secret marketing campaign in and of itself.
